Data Files from "Mapping Vs30 in Taiwan" By Chyi-Tyi Lee and Bi-Ru Tsai Institute of Applied Geology, National Central University, Jhongli City, 32001, Taiwan INTRODUCTION This Note describes the results of estimation of Vs30 for 711 free-field strong-motion station sites in Taiwan with providing 230 stations had been actually measured by the Central Weather Bureau of Taiwan as of year 2005. Testing data from 19,154 engineering exploratory holes from the Geo2005 database of the Central Geological Survey of Taiwan, were incorporated with the PS-logging data in the 230 holes at the stations to perform spatial interpolation by using a geostatistical method, and a Vs30 map for soft rock and soil sites in Taiwan was done in our study. These results may provide a basic parameter for strong-motion studies in using Taiwan data. Data files : (1) Vs30Map.pdf -- an A0-sized Vs30 map of Taiwan. (scale 1:400,000) (2) Vs30Table.xls -- a list of Vs30 and site classification for 711 free-field strong-motion station sites in Taiwan. EXPLANATION OF THE FILES The Vs30Map.pdf can be ouput to an A0-sized color printer to produce an 1:400,000 scaled Vs30 map of Taiwan. The datum is TWD67 and map projection is 2-degree zone Transverse Mercator with central meridian at E121 degrees. Vs30Table.xls contains 9 columns. They are: Station: code of a station, Name: station name in Chinese, X_TWD67: E coordinate in TWD67 datum and 2-degree zone Transverse Mercator's projection, Y_TWD67: N coordinate in TWD67 datum and 2-degree zone Transverse Mercator's projection, Elevation: Elevation in TWD67 datum. Vs30 estimated: Vs30 estimated in our study, SiteClass(Vs30): Site classification according to Vs30 estimated, SiteClass(2001): Site classification reported in Lee et al., 2001. Vs30 measured: Vs30 actually measured by CWB without screening of quality.
